Lamu County to receive Ksh722 million from equalization fund from National treasury

Lamu County will receive Ksh 722 million, amongst the 14 counties that will benefit from equalization fund from National treasury for health, road and infrastructure, electricity and water projects.

National Planning and statistics principle secretary, Saitoti Torome with other officials from Nairobi attended the county consultations on the project to be funded by the Equalization fund with Governor Issa Timay, Deputy Governor Eric Mugo and Lamu East MP Sharif Athman held today 08/12/2016 .

HE Governor presented the budget of the fund to be used on the county projects proposed, where Ksh145M will be used for health projects, ksh285M for water projects, ksh240M for roads and infrastructure and ksh60M for Manda electricity supply. The budget was Ksh730M including supplying electricity to some other places in the county, a difference of 8M from the equalization fund which County Government of Lamu will cover.
