Launching of Ishakani Dispensary

Ishakani dispensary is the 6 th completed dispensary in Lamu County by the County Government and two more ongoing in Kiangwi and Bargoni.

The dispensary is to serve the Ishakani residents, area security officers and Kiemboni residents. It was officially opened by H.E Governor on April 11, 2017 accompanied by C.E.C for health, Kombo Mohammed and other County officials.

Before, Ishakani residents depended on Kiunga dispensary which is almost a 15 kilometer. They had to walk to Kiunga for medical services because transportation is a big challenge in the area.

The newly built dispensary with modern equipment and enough medicines will be of a relief to the locals as the service has been brought close to their door step.

This will also reduce congestion at Kiunga dispensary. A male nurse has been posted already and is expected operate with immediate effect.

In his speech, H.E Governor Timamy promised the resident to post a female nurse who will be handling female patients, “since we have brought a male nurse, we will also bring you a female nurse to handle the female patients”.

The nurse was provided with a motorbike by the county government to help in transportation in case of emergencies issues.
