17th Annual Lamu Cultural Festival 16th -19th November 2017

MASHUA RACE WINNER FAIZUUN FROM FAZA

Mashua race winner was Faizuun from Faza in Lamu East. The second position went to Atfa from Kizingitini and Subira from Bwanjumwali respectively.

 SWIMMING COMPETITION WINNERS

SPORTS AND CULTURE MINISTER VISIT

Sports and culture minister from national government is received at the VIP Lounge at Manda Airstrip Lamu by H.E Deputy governor Lamu Abdulhakim Aboud and CEC Lands Fahima Arafat. He is in the county to celebrate the annual Lamu cultural festival which was officially opened on 17th November 2017 by H.E Governor Fahim Yassin Twaha.

WINNER OF DONKEY

Anna’s Abdallah once again emerged the winner for the 17th Cultural Festivals donkey race. He emerged position one  last year this year consecutively.

 KAA CULTURE SPONSORSHIP 

KAA Airport Manager Lamu Dominic Ngigi presents a sponsorship Cheque of Ksh500,000.00 to the Deputy Governor H.E. Abdulhakim Aboud towards this years Annual Cultural Festival on 17th November 2017 afternoon. Behind them is Customer Service Manager Selina Gor and County secretary Ms Joyce Murimi. 

 

 JAHAZI RACE WINNERS – FIRDAUS

Jahazi race winner was Firdaus from Patte in Lamu east.

 

 

HENNA PAINTING

A little girl undergoes a henna painting during this years Cultural Festival. Henna mainly is mostly applied to women. Henna is a dye prepared from the plant Lawsonia inermis. 

 

 

 GALA DINNER

H.E Governor Fahim Yassin Twaha with Indian High Commissioner Suchitra Durai  attended a gala dinner at Lamu fort on 17th November 2017.

CULTURAL DISPLAY

The event was full of local cultural displays. Local Swahili women displaying a traditional cereal grinder for making delicacies such as bhajia.

  ANIDAN KIDS ENTERTAINMENT

 

Its all set for Lamu Cultural Festival that started on 16th November 2017. This is the 17th edition of celebrations of swahili culture.
