County Government of Lamu in collaboration with Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project earlier today distributed water tanks (1,000 litres capacity), cashew nut processing tools, chicken feeds, fertilisers, energy saving jikos, livestock drugs, seeds, fishing boat and fishing nets to five (5) community groups in Bahari and (11) groups in Mkunumbi Ward.
A total of 400 beneficiaries in the two wards were targeted.
The support will go along way in enhancing food security and rural poverty eradication through improved disposable income to smallholder agro-pastoral households and indeed the residents of the County.
This is in line with County Government of Lamu policies and KCSAP’s objectives.
The event was held concurrently at ATDC in Bahari ward and at Mapenya Chief’s office in Mkunumbi Ward.
The function was graced by Deputy Governor and CECM – Food Security Docket Hon. Abdulhakim Aboud Bwana accompanied by County staff from the Department of Agriculture, KCSAP and community leadership.
