The County Government of Lamu through the Department of Agriculture and Livestock has officially operationalized the newly constructed Kitumbini Cattle Dip.

The new dip will serve over 4000 heads of cattle in Witu Mjini, Kitumbini and sorrounding villages .

According to Head of the Livestock Department, Dr. George Ondieki, the County Government continues to enhance County’s cattle dips, and replenish acaricides’ across the county . This is part of County Government’s continued efforts to increase herd immunity through pest and vector borne disease control.

Over 50,000 heads of cattle were vaccinated against Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) in October 2020 in the annual Pest and Disease Control Program aimed at increasing herd immunity and preventing livestock loses .
