A report by the Controller of budget Dr Margaret Nyakang’o for 2019-20 Financial Year places Lamu among the 5 out of the 47 counties that have met and exceeded their annual revenue targets. Others include Homa Bay, Taita Taveta, Machakos and Bomet.
Lamu generated Sh109 million, an increase of 34 per cent compared to the Sh71.8 million realised in the 2018-19 financial years
This is truly a significant milestone. It has been a tough journey streamlining the financial prudential guidelines aspects of the county, which have reduced wastage, unnecessary expenditure and misappropriation of funds. This means more funds for development, and less for corrupt forces.
