Governor Fahim Yasin Twaha today continued with the inspection tour of the historical ‘Mai Mekoni’ project in Lamu East with today’s second leg taking him to Faza and later Kizingitini Villages .
And for the first time since indipendence, over 4,624 Kizingitini residents will benefit from clean tapped water upon completion of the ‘Mai Mekoni’ Kizingitini Chapter .
These new infrastructure, a headliner of the Kizingitini Mai Mekoni Water Project will comprise of ;
1.-The construction of a 21.21 Km water pipeline
-Piping and connection of over 687 households,
-Fabrication and installation of 15m high, 50m³ elevated steel tank
-Rehabilitation of existing Sumptank
-Desalination plant 5m³
The water project in Kizingitini is already 30% done and upon completion, the County estimates that over 687 households in Kizingitini Village will have clean tapped water.
The inspection tour culminated in a Community Baraza where Socio-economic and political issues affecting the residents were discussed.
