221 households in Ndau Village are set to have clean piped water by October 2020, following the kick-off of the Sh.23 million Ndau Water Project.
The Project will see the installation of 5m³ RO plant and 30kVA Diesel Generator and reticulation system connecting all the houses.
It will also comprise of construction of a Plant House, already 90% complete; the fabrication and installation of 15m 50m3 Elevated Steel Tank, already 30% complete.
The Ndau Water Project is part of flagship water projects in Lamu East and West under the County’s revolutionary *Mai Mekoni Water Project*. The grand project aims to provide centralised drinking water supply and tap water to a 100% of the Lamu population.
The labour intensive Ndau Water Project has employed 26 Ndau youth and in its completion, will benefit at least 1,100 Ndau Village residents, socially and economically.
Socially, effective provision of clean piped/ tapped water in Ndau Village households will protect citizens from water-borne health risks and serve domestic needs conveniently.
Economically, it will catalyse economic activities and reduce historical and rising water expenses.
