Lamu County Government has stepped up its efforts to maintain, improve and beautify Lamu Island.

Through the Lands and Infrastructure Department, the streets and roads of the UNESCO accredited heritage site are undergoing a cabro and concrete paving refurbishment.

According to the engineers, the refurbishment will involve stone packing, murraming and concrete surface reinforced with BRC A142 fabric.

The ongoing refurbishment is prioritised by the state of the street and human traffic, and has earmarked Kashmir, Gardeni, Water Supply Area, Bajuri, Milimani, Police Station, Sea front Main Road, Wiyoni and Lamu Girls among other areas .

The beautification Program has also revived the Island’s street lighting project.
