Deputy Governor Lamu County Hon. Abdul Hakim Mbwana has today presided over Mpeketoni Boys High School prize giving day.

The ceremony seeks to recognize and reward outstanding students in the year 2019.

Awards were given to 23 students who recorded a mean grade of B- and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2019.

Teachers with leading subjects in KCSE 2019 were also recognized and awarded.

Mpeketoni Boys High School ranked second in the county (2019 KCSE), registering a mean-score of 5.233, which was an improvement from 2018’s 5.155 mean score.

Outstanding teachers and students received a wide range of gifts including smart phones, cash prizes, trophies among other goodies.

The school also welcomed new school board of managers following the expiry of the previous BOM’s term.

Hon Abdulhakim reiterated Lamu County Government’s commitment to ensure access to education for all, saying that the County of Government will continue giving scholarships and bursaries to all top performers and deserving students across the county

Also present were Education CEC Paul Thairu and Chief of Staff Mohamed Galgalo Bute, KUPPET and TSC representatives and parents/guardians.
