H.E Governor Fahim Twaha today hosted Director for Administration, State Department of Petroleum and Mining and Project Oil Kenya Mr. Elsamma Ndegwa and his team at the County Headquarters in Mokowe where they discussed at length about the 824 KM LAPSSET oil pipeline.
Team Oil Kenya explored areas of possible collaborations with the Lamu County Government as they prepared for a public participation forum on environmental Impact Assessment with the Lamu residents .
Speaking at the meeting, H.E Fahim Twaha lauded the project saying the pipeline corridor will open up the county bringing with it many opportunities for the local residents “The 824 kilometer oil pipeline, cuts across Lamu County and this will open up employment opportunities to our youths during the construction as well as cooperate social responsibilities that will be done by team oil kenya” Said the Governor.
The FID (Final Decision Investment) of the pipeline will be concluded before the end of this year.
Also in attendance was LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority Engineer Jacob Mwakio, David Kombe Tullow Oil, Linda Were Africa oil and Donald Mahihu of Africa Oil.
