#BreakingBarriers – Amplifying youth voices through constructive dialogue for sustainable development.

Earlier on Wednesday, Lamu County Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW witnessed the signing of an MoU between the department of Medical Services and Nephromed (K) Ltd that will see Mpeketoni hospital get a new DIALYSIS UNIT.

The unit will ease the burden for patients with end-stage kidney disease who have had to travel a long distance to acquire the life-saving intervention at King Fahd Hospital.

The delighted Governor emphasized the importance of Public-Private Partnerships as a strategy to bridge financial gaps experienced by counties with very low exchequer allocation such as Lamu.

Present during the brief ceremony were the Women Representative Lamu County Hon. Muthoni Marubu, County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, CECM Health services Dr. Mbarak Bahjaj and the CEO Nephromed Ltd Mr. Deepak Sharma.

The Anidan Pablo hortsman Foundation on Wednesday donated ICU equipment worth over KSH 10 million to King Fahd hospital.

The equipment will enable the Lamu County Referral Hospital set up 2 ICU beds for children, on top of the 3 adult beds in the original plans, making the ICU have a total capacity of 5 beds.

The ICU is awaiting the installation of the oxygen plant for full operationalization and is expected to be ready by November this year.

Receiving the equipment at King Fahd Hospital, CECM Dr. Mbarak Bahjaj thanked the Pablo hortsman Foundation represented by Ms. Helena Navarro and Mr. Stephen Odero.
