GOVERNOR TIMAMY LAUNCHES GALLA GOAT REARING PROJECT IN MOA VILLAGE

‎Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has launched a Galla goat rearing project in Moa Village, Witu Ward, aimed at improving household livelihoods and boosting economic resilience among local communities.

‎The project, implemented by the County Government of Lamu through the Kenya Marine Fisheries Socio-Economic Development (KEMFSED) Project, Phase III, will benefit the Moa Exodus Women Self Help Group, which has received 105 Galla goats and a modern goat house to support proper rearing and management.

‎Group members expressed their gratitude, describing the initiative as a major step toward improving household incomes and strengthening food and nutritional security.

‎Speaking during the launch, Governor Timamy also distributed aluminium milk cans, juakali start-up kits, sports kits and fishing nets further supporting income-generating activities, entrepreneurship, and youth engagement in the community.

A SIGH OF RELIEF FOR LAMU STUDENTS AS GOVERNOR TIMAMY RESTORES COUNTY SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES

‎After a long period without county-issued scholarships, students across Lamu County can now smile once again following a major announcement by Governor H.E. Issa Timamy that the County Government of Lamu will roll out 1,140 scholarships and extend bursary support to over 5,000 students starting next month.

‎Speaking on Friday morning in Witu during a three-day development tour, the Governor revealed that the county has allocated Ksh. 70 million for the program in the current financial year, describing the move as a significant relief for families struggling with the rising cost of education.

‎Governor Timamy dismissed earlier rumors suggesting that his administration had refused to issue scholarships, clarifying that the county had been guided by a previous decision from the Controller of Budget, which indicated that scholarships were not within the mandate of county governments. He noted that the new development restores hope to thousands of learners and reaffirms the county’s commitment to investing in education.

‎He was flanked by his Deputy, Hon. Mbarak Mohamed, and County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) led by the Education CECM, Hon. Sebastian Owanga, as he made the announcement.

‎CECM Hon. Owanga urged students and parents to access the application form through the county website at www.lamu.go.ke with the application deadline set for 2nd February 2026.

GOVERNOR ISSA TIMAMY ENGAGES KATSAKA KAIRU RESIDENTS DURING WITU DEVELOPMENT TOUR

Governor Issa Timamy on Friday visited Katsaka Kairu Village in Witu Ward, where he met with local residents as part of his ongoing three-day development tour in the area. The tour focuses on inspecting and commissioning county government projects as well as holding public barazas to engage directly with citizens.

‎The Governor assured residents that the county government will continue implementing development projects in the village. On the issue of land, he stated that the county will seek funding and engage ranch owners with the aim of purchasing land and resettling affected residents.

‎To support youth empowerment, the Governor donated jua kali equipment to a local group to promote self-employment and job creation. He also distributed football kits to the local team and pledged to install a high-mast security light in the village to enhance safety.

‎Governor Timamy was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Mbarak Mohamed, County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, CECMs, Chief Officers, and other senior county officials.

‎GOVERNOR TIMAMY LAUNCHES COMMUNITY LAND PROJECT IN CHALALUMA-DIDE WARIDE

‎Lamu Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW, on a three-day development tour in Witu, has launched the conversion and registration of approximately 10,000 acres of unregistered land at Chalaluma-Dide Waride into community land. The project, expected to be completed by June 2026, will give the Orma community recognized land rights for grazing and other activities.

‎ Speaking during the launch on Friday, the governor donated aluminium milk cans for dairy farming, juakali start-up kits for youth workshops, and sports kits.

PARLIAMENTARY ENERGY COMMITTEE PAYS COURTESY CALL TO GOVERNOR TIMAMY AHEAD OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN LAMU

The Parliamentary Energy Committee on Wednesday paid a courtesy call to Lamu Governor Issa Timamy as part of ongoing public participation on proposed changes to the national oil development plan. The meeting was held ahead of a scheduled public forum with residents at the Mokowe Maritime Centre, where the Committee is expected to engage citizens directly.

‎The engagement brought together Members of the Committee and the County Executive to discuss key issues affecting Lamu County, with a major focus on collecting citizens’ views on the proposed re-routing of the LAPSSET crude oil pipeline from the original Lokichar–Lamu corridor to an alternative route terminating in Mombasa.

‎Governor Timamy emphasized that Lamu’s port development must be supported by critical infrastructure, noting that it is not viable to have a functional port without an oil pipeline and a refinery. He stated that there are already investors willing to invest in Lamu, provided an oil pipeline is established.

‎The Governor further reiterated that Lamu Port is envisioned as a major transshipment hub serving regional and international markets, and called for meaningful public participation to safeguard the county’s long-term economic interests.

GOVERNOR ISSA TIMAMY PARTICIPATES IN HIGH-LEVEL UDA–ODM ENGAGEMENT TALKS IN NAIROBI

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, who also serves as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Deputy Party Leader, on Wednesday participated in high-level political engagement talks held in Nairobi aimed at strengthening cooperation between UDA and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The discussions focused on establishing structured mechanisms for engagement to deepen political cooperation, build consensus on shared national priorities, and provide a clear framework for dialogue, coordination, and partnership to support stable governance.

The meeting was held at State House, Nairobi, and was presided over by President William Ruto, the UDA Party Leader.

GOVERNOR ISSA TIMAMY OFFICIATES KCB FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY IN LAMU

Lamu Governor H.E. Issa Timamy today officiated the awarding of 10 scholarships under the KCB Foundation 2026 Senior School Scholarship Programme at the Lamu County Headquarters.

The scholarships, fully sponsored by the KCB Foundation, target learners from Lamu County who qualified through merit after attaining the required academic marks and successfully undergoing an interview process.

Governor Timamy commended the KCB Foundation for its continued investment in education, describing the initiative as a strong partnership in nurturing the future of Lamu’s learners. He called upon other stakeholders to emulate KCB’s commitment by supporting the education sector, reiterating that education remains a priority for his administration.

The Governor further noted that the County Government of Lamu will continue to invest in education and revealed that plans are underway for the county to introduce its own scholarship programme to support deserving students.

The KCB Foundation delegation was led by Lamu Branch Manager Mr. Raphael Njombo, who thanked the Governor and the County Government for their support and collaboration in promoting education in Lamu County.

ICT UNIT ENGAGES YOUTH TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES IN LAMU COUNTY

The Department of ICT, Climate Change, E-Government, and Citizen Participation held a youth engagement forum at the Hindi Digital Hub to explore untapped opportunities in Lamu County. The forum aimed to empower youth to use technology, digital innovation, and online platforms for economic growth, climate action, and citizen participation.

The CECM, Hon. Aisha Shariff Omar, assured the youth of full support from the County Government under the visionary leadership of Governor Issa Timamy. She encouraged young people to utilize digital hubs to develop skills, pursue content creation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and actively engage in e-government services.

The forum highlighted digital opportunities and concluded with a call for youth to turn ideas into impactful solutions that drive sustainable development.

WITU DAIRY FARMERS GET MAJOR BOOST AS GOVERNOR TIMAMY DELIVERS MILK TRUCK

Witu Ward has received a major boost in dairy farming following the donation of a milk collection truck and dairy equipment by the County Government. The Witu Livestock Cooperative Society is the main beneficiary of the initiative. The 5,000-litre capacity milk collection truck will be used to collect milk from smallholder farmers across various collection centres, improving efficiency and access to markets.

Governor Issa Timamy, who presided over the handover ceremony, also issued aluminium milk collection cans to cooperative members to enhance hygienic milk handling and improve milk quality. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering more development projects across Lamu County, noting that agriculture and livestock remain key drivers of job creation, food security, and economic growth.

Representatives from the Kenya Dairy Board, Mr. Paul Ndugu, and New KCC, Ms. Irene Mwaka, urged farmers to observe high standards of hygiene and quality in milk production. Both institutions expressed interest in buying milk directly from the Witu Livestock Cooperative Society once production levels increase and encouraged farmers to invest in feed production to sustain output.

Local residents thanked the Governor for the project, saying it will create jobs, improve dairy farming, and uplift household incomes in Witu Ward.
