GOVERNOR ISSA TIMAMY OFFICIATES KCB FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY IN LAMU

Lamu Governor H.E. Issa Timamy today officiated the awarding of 10 scholarships under the KCB Foundation 2026 Senior School Scholarship Programme at the Lamu County Headquarters.

The scholarships, fully sponsored by the KCB Foundation, target learners from Lamu County who qualified through merit after attaining the required academic marks and successfully undergoing an interview process.

Governor Timamy commended the KCB Foundation for its continued investment in education, describing the initiative as a strong partnership in nurturing the future of Lamu’s learners. He called upon other stakeholders to emulate KCB’s commitment by supporting the education sector, reiterating that education remains a priority for his administration.

The Governor further noted that the County Government of Lamu will continue to invest in education and revealed that plans are underway for the county to introduce its own scholarship programme to support deserving students.

The KCB Foundation delegation was led by Lamu Branch Manager Mr. Raphael Njombo, who thanked the Governor and the County Government for their support and collaboration in promoting education in Lamu County.

ICT UNIT ENGAGES YOUTH TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES IN LAMU COUNTY

The Department of ICT, Climate Change, E-Government, and Citizen Participation held a youth engagement forum at the Hindi Digital Hub to explore untapped opportunities in Lamu County. The forum aimed to empower youth to use technology, digital innovation, and online platforms for economic growth, climate action, and citizen participation.

The CECM, Hon. Aisha Shariff Omar, assured the youth of full support from the County Government under the visionary leadership of Governor Issa Timamy. She encouraged young people to utilize digital hubs to develop skills, pursue content creation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and actively engage in e-government services.

The forum highlighted digital opportunities and concluded with a call for youth to turn ideas into impactful solutions that drive sustainable development.

WITU DAIRY FARMERS GET MAJOR BOOST AS GOVERNOR TIMAMY DELIVERS MILK TRUCK

Witu Ward has received a major boost in dairy farming following the donation of a milk collection truck and dairy equipment by the County Government. The Witu Livestock Cooperative Society is the main beneficiary of the initiative. The 5,000-litre capacity milk collection truck will be used to collect milk from smallholder farmers across various collection centres, improving efficiency and access to markets.

Governor Issa Timamy, who presided over the handover ceremony, also issued aluminium milk collection cans to cooperative members to enhance hygienic milk handling and improve milk quality. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering more development projects across Lamu County, noting that agriculture and livestock remain key drivers of job creation, food security, and economic growth.

Representatives from the Kenya Dairy Board, Mr. Paul Ndugu, and New KCC, Ms. Irene Mwaka, urged farmers to observe high standards of hygiene and quality in milk production. Both institutions expressed interest in buying milk directly from the Witu Livestock Cooperative Society once production levels increase and encouraged farmers to invest in feed production to sustain output.

Local residents thanked the Governor for the project, saying it will create jobs, improve dairy farming, and uplift household incomes in Witu Ward.

Among those who attended were Deputy Governor H.E. Dr. Mbarak Mohamed, Political Advisor and former MP Hon. Julius Ndegwa, CECMs led by Livestock CECM Hon. Sabrina Jefwa, Chief Officers, national government representatives, County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, MCAs, and other county officials.

GOVERNOR ISSA TIMAMY ARRIVES IN WITU WARD FOR DAIRY EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE

Governor Issa Timamy today arrived in Witu Ward to hand over a 5,000-litre milk collection truck and Aluminium Milk Collection Cans to the Witu Livestock Cooperative Society, aimed at improving milk collection and supporting smallholder dairy farmers.

The Governor was received by county leadership, cooperative members, and residents, as the County Government reaffirmed its commitment to farmer empowerment, job creation, and sustainable dairy farming.
