Lamu County’s Digital Literacy Program: Empowering Youth Through Digital Hubs
Lamu County is making significant strides in equipping its youth with vital digital skills, and today, that vision was further solidified as the Chief Officer ICT Ali Ahmed, visited one of the county’s leading Digital hubs located in Mokowe next to the ward administration’s office, just a stone’s throw from the Lamu County Headquarters, the hub has been a beacon of hope for young people looking to tap into the power of technology.
In a heartwarming visit, the Chief Officer, interacted with the youth at the hub, offering valuable insights into the opportunities available through the digital literacy program.
The vibrant scene at Mokowe was filled with the energy of eager young minds, all keen to learn and embrace the future of technology.
Speaking to the group, the Chief Officer, passionately urged them to spread the word about the initiative, encouraging every young person in Lamu County to take advantage of the program—free of charge.
“Tell a friend, tell your peers, and let’s all take part in this incredible opportunity,” the Chief Officer emphasized,highlighting the program’s potential to bridge the digital divide and provide youth with the skills they need to thrive in a technology-driven world.
The Digital hub offers a range of digital tools and resources, giving young people access to computers, internet, and training in various fields, from basic computer skills to more advanced software training.
So far, Lamu County has trained over 200 youth across six digital hubs, each offering specialized digital skills that are shaping the next generation of leaders and innovators.
