OVERNOR TIMAMY COMMISSION PUBLIC DJABIA TO IMPROVE WATER SCARCITY IN KIZINGITINI
Al Jazau Women group members from Kizingitini have a reason to smile following the official opening of their Djabia by the County Government of Lamu through KEMFSED.
The construction of the Djabia which has a capacity of 100,000 litres was officially commissioned Governor Issa Timamy EGH OGW in 2024.
The completion of the Djabia which serves over 5,000 households in Kizingitini is part of the County Government’s initiative towards improving water supply in freshwater-scarce areas.
Water scarcity in the villages in Lamu East has been a thorn in the flesh with residents heavily relying on rainwater harvesting and storing the water in a traditional underground water tank known as Djabia.
The Governor is on a development tour in Lamu East and is accompanied by all Executive members, Chief Officers, CoS Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, area MCA Hon. Simba together with his counterpart Hon. Medo.
