CELEBRATION AS WIYONI COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL GETS A DESALINATION PLANT
Lamu Governor H.E Issa Timamy E.GH, O.G.W on Friday graced the official handover of Wiyoni Comprehensive secondary school desalination plant in an effort to ensure students have access to clean and safe water.
The plant was donated by Helping Hand organisation which is a non profit making entity in collaboration with the County Government of Lamu.
Speaking during the event, Governor Timamy thanked the organisation for the kind gesture and further noted that his administration believes safe water and sanitation should not be a privilege of only those who are rich or live in urban centers.
“My administration acknowledges this gesture and will continue partnering with like minded organisations to prioritize most basic requirements for human health like water in a bid to ensure every Lamu resident can access clean andsafe water.” added the Governor.
This initiative comes after Helping Hand donated another desalination plant in Mokowe.
Also in attendance was Lamu County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, Trade CECm Hon. Aisha Miraj, CoS Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, nominated MCA Hon. Medo and Helping Hand leadership led by Mr. Yunus.
