COUNTY TARGETS TO WORK CLOSELY WITH KVF TO REVIVE VOLLEYBALL IN LAMU

Kenya Volleyball Federation Lamu Branch Chair Mr. Gabriel Kariuki together with the newly elected KVF Lamu Branch board members paid a courtesy call on Sports CECM Hon. Sebastian Owanga on Tuesday this week at the County Headquarters in Mokowe.

The meeting delved on how KVF and County Government of Lamu will work together towards reviving volleyball sport in Lamu.

Hon. Owanga said at the meeting that County Government of Lamu is actively supporting and strengthening many sporting activities as part of fulfilling H.E. Governor Issa Timamy promise in nurturing and strenthening sports activities across the county.

The Department of Youth and Sports promised to assit the newly elected officials in ensuring their board is fully affiliated to KVF, provision of volleyball equipment to teams, training of volleyball referees’, improvement of volleyball infrastructure and supporting local teams to participate in regional and national championships.

County Youth and Sports Chief Officer Md. Hafswa Difini affirmed that her Department will continue growing talents in sports and creative arts as a sustainable program of employment creation.

KVF Chair Mr. Kariuki thanked Governor Timamy for his evident commitment in supporting and reviving volleyball sports which had been neglected and ensuring the county is able to produce strong teams that can compete at the top level.
