Day Two: Training on Digitally Enabled Agripreneur Models Concludes in Lamu
The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Food Security has concluded a two day training on the rollout of the Digitally Enabled Agripreneur Model in Lamu West and Lamu East sub counties.
The training focused on key digital tools aimed at strengthening agricultural service delivery, including the Agripreneur Programme Management System (APMS), the Agripreneur Digital Platform (ADP), KALRO big data products and services, and the Kenya Integrated Agriculture Management Information System (KIAMIS) platform.
The workshop brought together agripreneurs, members of Community Driven Development Committees (CDDCs), agriculture officers, and officials from the County Project Coordination Unit (CPCU) implementing the Food Systems Resilience Project (FSRP).
Participants are expected to play a critical role as extension service providers, helping to bridge the gap between farmers and government institutions.
Their responsibilities include farmer registration, promotion of improved crop and livestock practices, provision of agro weather information, soil testing advisory services, and general agronomic guidance.
They will also support farmers by linking them to available markets through the KIAMIS application.
Enumerators and supervisors attending the training were further taken through a session on data protection and accountability, during which they took an oath of secrecy administered by the Commissioner of Oaths, Hon. Flavian Mulama, Resident Magistrate at the Lamu Law Courts.
In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of safeguarding farmer data and warned that any unauthorized disclosure of information would attract legal liability under the law.
The event was attended by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture, Irrigation and Food Security, James Gichu, alongside the Chief Officer for Agriculture, Frederick Baraka Kaingu among other senior staffs.
