Governor Issa Timamy Reopens Renovated Kiunga Digital Hub to Empower Youth
Governor Issa Timamy has officially reopened the Kiunga Digital Hub after undergoing significant renovations and being re-equipped to serve as a center for digital transformation in the county.
The revamped facility is designed to empower the youth of Kiunga and surrounding areas by providing them with access to digital tools and learning opportunities.
During the orientation session, led by ICT Chief Officer Ali Ahmed, Governor Timamy expressed his commitment to ensuring that the youth in Lamu are fully equipped with the necessary digital skills for the modern workforce.
He highlighted the importance of such facilities in bridging the digital divide and fostering innovation among the young population.
“As the second Deputy Party Leader of the ruling party, I am dedicated to providing the youth of Lamu with the skills needed to thrive in the digital era,” Governor Timamy said. “I urge the Chiefs to mobilize the youth within their areas to take full advantage of this opportunity.”
The digital hub is open to all and offers free access, including Wi-Fi connectivity.
The facility is powered by battery backup,making it both sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Governor Timamy’s initiative aims to create a more digitally-savvy youth population in Lamu, preparing them for future job markets and enabling them to engage more effectively in the global digital economy.
