Lamu Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW has appointed Hon. James Gichu as his new deputy following the demise of the former Deputy, HE Raphael Munyua in September 2024.

The Governor has subsequently forwarded Hon. Gichu, who serves as Agriculture CECM to the County Assembly of Lamu for vetting and consideration.

Speaking after he was nominated at Mokowe County Headquarters, Hon. Gichu thanked Governor Timamy for nominating him for the job and committed to helping the Governor deliver on all the pre-election pledges he made to the electorate.

Governor Timamy congratulated his new deputy for the nomination adding that it was a well-thought-out decision that included a lot of considerations.

“After careful considerations and consultations with key stakeholders in our government and the community at large the ideal person to take over the office of the Deputy Governor is my Agriculture CECM Hon. Jimmy Gichu,” Governor Timamy said.

County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, CoS Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, CECMs, Chief Officers, and members of the public were in attendance.
