GOVERNOR TIMAMY INSPECTS KIUNGA ICE PLANT UNDER KEMSFED PROJECT

Lamu Governor H.E. Issa Timamy, EGH, on Friday inspected the Kiunga Ice Plant, a key facility under the KEMSFED project supported by the World Bank and implemented by the County Government of Lamu. The plant is designed to enhance the fishing sector, improve fish storage, and boost livelihoods for local communities in Lamu East.

Governor Timamy encouraged local fishers and stakeholders to leverage the facility to expand market access and improve productivity, emphasizing the county’s commitment to sustainable economic growth and community empowerment.

The visit forms part of the Governor’s ongoing weeklong development tour, which includes inspections of health, fisheries, and infrastructure projects, alongside direct engagement with residents on service delivery and development priorities.

The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Mbarak Mohamed, County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, members of the County Executive Committee, Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, Chief Officers, KEMSFED project coordinator Mr. Kamalu, and other senior county officials.
