Governor Timamy Joins Thousands in Receiving Medical Treatment During Major Health Outreach in Hindi

Lamu County Governor Issa Timamy on Saturday joined thousands of residents in the Hindi area to receive free medical treatment during a comprehensive health outreach program sponsored by the Safaricom Foundation, M-PESA Foundation, Zuri Health, and other key partners in collaboration with the County Government of Lamu.

The large-scale medical event aimed to bring essential and specialized healthcare services closer to communities with limited access to proper medical care. Residents from across the county—including the elderly, children, and expectant mothers—benefited from services such as general check-ups, dental care, eye clinics, pediatric consultations, gynecological services, cervical cancer screening, and distribution of medication.

Governor Timamy not only encouraged residents to take full advantage of the free services but also personally underwent a routine medical check-up, underscoring the value of regular screenings and proactive healthcare. Speaking during the event, the Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to reducing health disparities in Lamu’s remote and underserved areas.

“With support from our partners like Safaricom Foundation and M-PESA Foundation, we are making healthcare more accessible,” said Governor Timamy. “No one should be left behind due to distance, cost, or lack of facilities.” stated Governor Timamy.

The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Designate and Health CECM Dr. Mbarak Bahjaj, along with other senior county officials. Health workers and partners praised the outreach as a model for public-private collaboration in improving community health.

This event marks yet another milestone in Lamu County’s journey toward equitable healthcare delivery, thanks to the generous support of its development partners and the active involvement of its leadership.
