GOVERNOR TIMAMY LAUNCHES ISHAKANI PIPELINE WATER PROJECT

On Saturday, Governor H.E. Issa Timamy officially commissioned the Ishikani Pipeline Water Project, a transformative initiative implemented in the last financial year under the Department of Water and Energy. The project connects Ishikani to the Kiunga Desalination Plant, enabling the community to access clean and safe drinking water.

To address logistical challenges and ensure long-term sustainability, the project has been supported through the installation of a solar power system to ensure reliable operations.

Speaking during the launch on Friday, Governor Timamy said, “Access to clean and safe water is not a privilege but a right. This project reflects our commitment to delivering sustainable solutions that improve the health, dignity, and economic well-being of our people.”

Water CECM Tashrifa also underscored the department’s technical role, stating, “By integrating renewable energy and modern water infrastructure, we are ensuring that this system remains reliable, cost-effective, and capable of serving our communities for generations to come.”

The Governor further directed the Department of Water and Energy to rehabilitate other desalination plants across the county to boost water production and guarantee adequate and dependable water supply for residents.
