GOVERNOR TIMAMY OFFICIATES OPENING OF 62ND KENYA SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR IN MPEKETONI BOYS HIGH SCHOOL, LAMU
Lamu Governor H.E. Issa Abdalla Timamy on Wednesday officially opened the 62nd Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) at Mpeketoni Boys High School, bringing together learners from all six Coastal counties.
The fair, formerly known as the Science Congress, showcases student innovations in science and technology, supporting Kenya’s Vision 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s event has also incorporated junior school learners under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system, with a strong focus on STEM pathways.
Governor Timamy, who was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Mbarak Bahjaj, Education CECM Hon. Sebastian Owanga, and Agriculture CECM Hon. Jimmy Gichu, said the initiative plays a key role in nurturing talent and keeping youth engaged in productive activities.
“This platform brings our young people together and steers them away from negative influences,” he said, adding that Lamu remains safe and welcoming to all visitors.
Over 1,000 learners are participating in the fair, supported by judges and teachers from across the region. Top projects will advance to the national level.
The Governor lauded stakeholders for maintaining peace and supporting education in Lamu County.
