GOVERNOR TIMAMY OPENS RADIOLOGY UNIT IN KIUNGA

Lamu Governor H.E. Issa Timamy, EGH, on Friday officially opened a new radiology unit at Kiunga Health Facility, marking a significant step in strengthening healthcare services in Lamu East Sub-County. The facility is expected to improve diagnostic capacity, reduce patient referrals to distant hospitals, and enhance access to timely medical care for residents.

The Governor noted that the radiology unit will play a critical role in early detection and proper management of medical conditions, particularly in remote and underserved communities. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in modern health infrastructure and essential equipment across the county.

He was accompanied by his Deputy Dr Mbarak Mohamed, County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, members of the County Executive Committee, Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, Chief Officers, and other senior county officials, who provided briefings on the status of ongoing and planned health sector projects in the area.

The opening of the unit formed part of the Governor’s ongoing weeklong development tour of Lamu East, which includes inspections of health, water, and infrastructure projects, as well as engagement with residents through public forums.
