Joy For Mkunumbi Residents As Governor Timamy Opens Newly Renovated Maternity Unit
It was a joyful day for Mkunumbi ward residents as Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW opened the newly renovated and fully equipped Mkunumbi dispensary maternity unit.
Speaking at Mkunumbi Dispensary, Governor Timamy said that the opening of the maternity unit was a great milestone in his administration’s quest to enhance the provision of primary healthcare for the county residents.
“By renovating this dispensary that was constructed in 2017 and was neglected, is a sign of commitment to our quest to enhance access to healthcare and save our people from traveling long distances in search of healthcare services which in turn saves them money and time to attend to other socio economic activities”, Governor Timamy said.
The Governor further noted the dispensary which has a capacity for 2 delivery beds will serve expectant women within the dispensary catchment area including Mkunumbi, Koreni and Bahati Njema who previously had to travel to Mpeketoni for the service. Last year the dispensaries recorded 125 anti-natal clinic visits with zero delivery from the facility.
Governor Timamy is in Mkunumbi ward to inspect and launch County Government projects and is accompanied by all members of his cabinet, Chief of Staff Dr. Abdulnasir Issa, Chief Officers among other county officials.
