LAMU GOVERNOR LAUNCHES BODABODA SHADE IN BOMANI, HONGWE WARD

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has launched a new bodaboda shade in Bomani, Hongwe Ward, aimed at improving the working environment for riders in the area.

The facility, unveiled on Wednesday, will serve as a pick-up and drop-off point for over 100 bodaboda operators, shielding them and their customers from harsh weather while promoting order and safety in the sector.

Governor Timamy said the project is part of his administration’s broader plan to empower youth and strengthen the transport sector, noting that bodabodas are a key link in moving people and goods across the county.

“This shade is part of our youth empowerment programme. We want to ensure bodaboda riders operate in a safe and conducive environment that supports their business and improves services to the community,” said Governor Timamy.

The Governor, who was in Hongwe Ward for a two-day development tour, was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Mbarak Mohamed, CECMs, Chief Officers, County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnassir Issa, among other senior officials.
