Lamu Municipality Conducts Clean Up Exercise in Kiangwi Village
Lamu Municipality today carried out a community clean up exercise in Kiangwi Village, located in Basuba Ward, as part of ongoing efforts to improve environmental conservation and urban cleanliness.
The exercise was led by the Municipal Manager, Abdulsewamad Ali, who joined municipal staff and community members in cleaning public spaces across the village.
The initiative aims to promote a healthier environment while encouraging residents to take part in maintaining clean and green surroundings.
The clean up activity forms part of the Kiangwi Mangrove Restoration and Urban Greenery Project, which focuses on restoring mangrove ecosystems and enhancing green spaces within the municipality.
The project is funded under the Kenya Urban Support Program II, a national program supporting sustainable urban development and environmental management across municipalities in Kenya.
In attendance was Chief Officer Lands and Urban Development Ahmed Ali (Loo) among others.
