LUMSHI VILLAGE RESIDENTS ASSURED OF DROUGHT RELIEF AND LAND SOLUTIONS
Residents of Lumshi village have welcomed assurances from Governor Issa Timamy that the County Government of Lamu will provide free water to areas most affected by the looming drought. The governor said a water trucking system will be introduced to reduce pressure on scarce water sources and prevent potential conflict between farmers and pastoralists.
On land matters, he pledged that the Department of Lands will work towards settling local squatters. He also encouraged parents to ensure children enroll in school to qualify for scholarships and bursaries. The governor is on a three-day development tour in Witu Ward, accompanied by senior county officials.
