OVER 60 GOATS DISTRIBUTED TO MYABOGI FARMERS BY GOVERNOR TIMAMY TO BOOST MILK PRODUCTION
Lamu Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW, has today distributed 63 goats to Myabogi Tuungane Self-help group to help improve their breeds and mitigate the effects of climate change through farming diversification measures.
The goats were purchased by the county government of Lamu through KEMFSED with the aim of helping them to improve their local breeds for more income in the competitive livestock market.
The governor thanked KEMFSED officials for their commitment towards assisting farmers in building resilience to climate change risks by offering them alternative avenues of livelihoods.
The group members applauded the move by Governor Timamy noting that the initiative will propel the milk production as the goat farming is more profitable and less expensive to maintain.
The governor is in Lamu East on a development tour where he has been commissioning and inspecting government projects.
