LAMU COUNTY TO PARTNER WITH LAPSSET TO BOOST LOCAL ECONOMY DURING THE UPCOMING LAMU CULTURAL FESTIVALS

The County Government of Lamu will partner with LAPSSET to make this year’s Lamu Cultural Festival a success. The event which will be held at Lamu Old Town is slated for 28th-30th November 2024.

This was revealed on Tuesday when Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW paid a courtesy call to LAPSSET CEO Mr. Stephen Ikua to discuss possible areas of collaboration towards bringing the event into fruition.

According to Governor Timamy, there was a need to reach out to potential partners such as LAPSSET to support the event since this would enable the County to be

able to woo more tourists and in turn create opportunities for local service providers leading to a stronger economy.

The Governor further assured residents his Administration will rigorously continue marketing Lamu as the region’s preferred destination for tourists, tapping into unexploited investment opportunities as well as supporting the hospitality industry to match international standards.
