CRUISE VESSEL MH. DIANA WITH OVER 100 TOURISTS CALLS LAMU
Lamu County Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW has announced that Lamu is honored to receive the cruise vessel MH Diana aboard with 120 tourists from Zanzibar.
The cruise vessel called on Lamu Port for the second time following last year’s good reviews from their tourists selecting Lamu as their annual destination because of its rich culture and preserved historical sites.
According to the Governor, passengers from different nationalities spent a whole day in Lamu serving as a big boost to the tourism sector and solidifying Lamu’s position as a hub for cruise tourism in East Africa.
“Collaboration between the County Government of Lamu and LAPSSET has helped to improve cruise tourism in the county and my Administration, through the Department of Tourism, will continue to aggressively market the tourism sector” said the Governor.
Tourism CECM Hon. Aisha Miraj remarked that Lamu was honored to receive the cruise vessel and further called on tourism stakeholders to join hands and improve the tourism sector for the betterment of our community and economic empowerment.
The tourists were welcomed by traditional dances and had a taste of Swahili snacks and coconut drinks.
Lamu Governor, County top officials together with Lamu Port officials were at hand to receive the ship.
