COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF LAMU TO BUILD 300 METERS SEAWALL IN MBWAJUMWALI
The County Government of Lamu under the stewardship of Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW is constructing a 300-meter seawall to protect Mbwajumwali locals from strong tidal waves overflowing to residential areas as well as prevent more soil erosion on their existing land.
The project, which is fully funded by the county government of Lamu, will have shallow culvert drainage blocks to drain rainstorm water to the sea and foul water, a staircase, a concrete ramp for boat launching and maintenance, and bollards for boats to dock.
Addressing the public at Mbwajumwali, Governor Timamy and the UDA Deputy Party Leader emphasized that his administration has allocated funds to ensure the infrastructure project is completed before mid this year. He further assured residents that the seawall will be an advanced one and they should not worry since it can withstand any water pressure.
The Governor is in a week-long Lamu East development tour and is accompanied by top county government officials, Faza MCA Hon. Simba together with nominated MCA Hon. Medo.
