GOVERNOR TIMAMY LAUNCHES HONGWE DIGITAL HUB TO EMPOWER YOUTH
Governor Issa Timamy has officially launched the Hongwe Digital Hub in Lamu West, a modern facility designed to equip young people with digital skills and expand opportunities in the digital economy.
The hub has been established by the County Government of Lamu through the Department of ICT, and is fitted with computers, high-speed internet, and training facilities to promote digital skilling, online jobs, and innovation.
Governor Timamy said the Hongwe Digital Hub will open up new opportunities for Lamu youth, enabling them to tap into global markets through freelancing, digital marketing, e-commerce, and software development.
The centre will also help Hongwe Ward youth benefit from the Phase 2 Digital Literacy Program, ensuring more young people acquire competitive skills for the modern job market. It will further serve as a community resource centre, offering mentorship and startup support.
The Governor, who was in Hongwe Ward for a development tour, was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Mbarak Mohamed, CECMs, Chief Officers, County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas, Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnassir Issa, among other senior officials.
