Lamu County residents soon will benefit from improved health services following BOMU hospital commitment to set up a world class hospital in Lamu County.
Speaking this morning while paying a courtesy call to H.E Governor Issa Timamy H.S.C, BOMU C.E.O Dr. Aabid Ahmed said they will set up a 52 bed capacity ultra modern hospital in Hindi that will offer primary and secondary health care services in a unique environment.
“In our quest to offer quality health services we are delighted to announce that before the end of the year we will have finished setting up a hospital in Hindi that will host an outpatient and inpatient, I.C.U, emergency unit among others.
Lamu Governor who’s also the A.N.C Party leader commended the decision by BOMU to invest in the healthcare sector noting that the multi million investment is a sign of good will to investors who have confidence in his administration. The Governor further noted his administration will continue undertaking infrastructural improvement, installation of equipment and supplying medicine in all public health facilities.
“The strides and the impact that we are making towards improving the health sector in Lamu will be felt by generations to come,” Governor Timamy said. He further lauded the management for agreeing to hire Lamu residents during construction and running of the hospital.
The investment by BOMU is part of an effort to expand the role of private medical providers in Lamu, and their entry will compliment governments efforts in meeting the demand for health services.
The ground breaking for the facility which will be the largest in Lamu is expected to be done in June this year. BOMU has already started setting up mobile clinics at Hindi and services will start being offered starting early March 2023.
