Rasini residents in Faza town have every reason to smile after Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW on Sunday, officially launched two free Wi-Fi hotspot zones in Faza Town.

Through the Department of ICT, Governor Timamy has so far commissioned 18 hotspot zones across 6 wards, a clear manifestation of his commitment towards fulfilling his campaign pledge of digitizing Lamu County.

Speaking after the launch, the UDA Deputy Party Leader called upon the youth to take advantage of the digital space to learn and unlock endless opportunities that are created in the digital space.

Towards the realization of a digitized county, the county government of Lamu has already established 6 hubs across six wards to empower the youth with digital ideas and skills that will help them create jobs for themselves.

The governor is in Lamu East to inspect and commission projects and is accompanied by top county government officials, Faza MCA and nominated MCA Hon. Medo.

Residents of Faza, are elated as Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW on Sunday officially opened an upgraded medical laboratory by procuring a new biochemistry analysizer.

The hospital, which acts as Lamu East referral hospital, has been serving thousands of residents and will now offer more comprehensive medical services, thus saving the residents from the inconvenience of being directed to other facilities in the mainland and outside the county, which might be an impediment to timely diagnosis and treatment.

“By providing timely and reliable laboratory services to the community, the health and well-being of thousands of individuals from Faza will be greatly enhanced,” said the UDA Deputy Party Leader.

According to the Governor, the upgraded laboratory can run tests for liver, kidney, and tumor markers, including prostate cancer, among others.

Governor Issa Timamy officially launched the Carbro footpath, drainage system, and high solar mast lights in Faza settlement, Lamu East Sub-County.

The project, funded by the World Bank under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP II), aims to improve the infrastructure and enhance the living conditions for residents in the area.

Governor Timamy, who was accompanied by CEC for Land, Roads, and Infrastructure, Tashrifa Bakari, and Chief Officer Ahmed Loo, along with other senior county officials, praised the initiative as a significant step towards addressing the challenges of informal settlements.

The project includes the construction of a durable footpath to ease mobility, a drainage system to manage stormwater, and the installation of solar-powered street lights to enhance security and lighting in the settlement.

The Governor expressed his commitment to continue working with development partners like the World Bank to improve infrastructure across Lamu County, ensuring that every resident has access to basic services and a better quality of life.

The KISIP II-funded project is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade informal settlements and provide sustainable solutions to the challenges facing urban and peri-urban communities in Kenya.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has commissioned a new boatyard in Faza that will help the youth to effectively carry out their trade.

Through KEMFSED the youth from Kishada self-help group also received workshop tools that will greatly assist them towards making and repairing boats at competitive prices.

The youths thanked Governor Timamy for his assistance, noting that they relied on traditional tools, making it difficult to match their competitors. They also noted that the shade will help them work in a conducive environment away from harsh weather conditions.

For the first time in history, Kizingitini dispensary which serves a high volume of patients, will have an X-ray unit, wards, an ultrasound room, and a delivery room.

This was revealed on Saturday by Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW, when he conducted an inspection tour of the ongoing renovations which align with the Governor’s promise to improve the County’s health sector.

With these improvements the facility will be upgraded to level 3A and will be admitting patients for Inpatient care for the first time in history.

According to the Governor, the contractor is making steady progress toward upgrading key facilities, and will be completed by March 2025.

The project is part of Governor Timamy’s initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure that focuses on improving healthcare services by upgrading facilities, making them safer and more accessible for residents.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW on Saturday presided over the issuance of Sh. 123,853,695 million through the partnership of the County Government of Lamu and the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Socio-Economic Development (KEMFSED)

The county boss and UDA Deputy Party Leader announced that selected beneficiary self-help group, are implementing various sub-projects across various sectors, including fisheries, environment, livestock, agriculture, community development, and SMEs.

The Governor further encouraged the beneficiary groups to utilize the funds well so that they can transform their livelihoods and positively contribute in the County economic development.

Traders in Kizingitini village in Faza ward are set to benefit from the construction of a modern market facility that was commissioned on Saturday by Lamu Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW.

The economic stimulus project is being constructed by the state Department of Housing and Urban Planning in partnership with the county government as part of the ongoing efforts to promote economic growth and improve infrastructure under the governor’s transformative agenda.

According to the UDA Deputy Party Leader, the state-of-the-art fish market facility will accommodate over 100 traders and include key amenities such as a cold storage, ablution block, kitchen, rest area, jabia, and a borehole.

“This market will significantly enhance the region’s economy, serving residents across Lamu East Sub-county. It is a testament to the county government’s dedication to addressing local needs and driving development,” The Governor remarked.

Lamu East MP Captain Ruweida who was in attendance, thanked Governor Timamy’s effort towards ensuring the market is built and further committed to work closely with his Administration in ensuring the market which will be a game changer in Lam East is completed in earnest.
