Lamu Governor HE Issa Timamy has today attended the inter-governmental forum that was chaired by H.E Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The meeting which was attended by Governors, international donors and development partners sought to develop a strategy to mitigate drought situation in the country.

It was resolved that every county shall form drought mitigation coordination teams that will be co-chaired by Governors’ and County Commissioners.

Lamu is among the counties in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) that are severely food insecure, following three consecutive poor rainy seasons that have hampered crop production.

The first joint meeting will be held on Tuesday next week.
