LAMU COUNTY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SAFARICOM FOUNDATION LAUNCHES A NEW MATERNITY AND NEWBORN UNIT AT MOKOWE HOSPITAL

County Government of Lamu in partnership with Safaricom Foundation has officially opened a new Maternity and Newborn Unit at Mokowe hospital that will be critical towards addressing maternal and newborn health emergencies so as to improve healthcare services in the county.

The facility was launched on Friday by Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW together with Safaricom Foundation Chairman Mr. Joe Ogutu.

“We are grateful to Safaricom Foundation for partnering with us to save the lives of women and children in our county and we believe through this engagement health services will get better and we will secure the future of our children,” said Lamu Governor.

Safaricom Foundation Chairman said the facility will ensure effective and quality health services to targeted people. He further added that the facility will greatly reduce the delay in seeking maternal health services and the delay of women receiving care.

Also present was Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua, CECM’s, CO’s, Directors, MCAs, Development partners and residents of Mokowe.
