LAMU HOSTS KENYA REDCROSS FIRST-AID CONTEST AFTER 12 YEARS

Lamu County has hosted the first Kenya Redcross First aid contest that was held on 29th July at Mkunguni Cultural Hetitage Square, Amu island

The humanitarian organized event attracted different categories of participants as follows:

1. College and Universities

2. Red Cross Action Team

3. Persons Living with Disabilities

4. Junior Secondaries

5. High schools, 6.Primary Schools

7. EMTs

The auspicious event that was last held over a decade ago, attracted over 500 community members. Different teams showcased their first aid skills with great zeal and thrill that left the crowd assured of their safety when an emergency arises.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy EGzh, OGW siaid Lamu was proud to have hosted the Regional First Aid Competition cordinated by Kenya Redcross that brought together schools, colleges, Universities& corporates from 6 Coastal Counties.The Governor termed the choice of Lamu County as a host was a clear testimony of our Capacity, commitment and professionalism to Disaster risk management framework as spearheaded by the Governors’s Office through the Directorate of disaster management under EOC Unit.

Lamu County Government will continue this initiative of engaging our youth and children in the disaster risk reduction programmes with belief that children are the agents of change in DRR to their both schools and localities.
