A multi-million oxygen processing plant has been launched at Faza hospital a development project that’s a big milestone in the provision of quality health care in Lamu East Sub-county.

The construction of the plant which is being financed by the Global Fund and Amref Health Africa in Kenya in partnership with the County Government of Lamu will process enough oxygen for patients in the facility and shared with nearby health facilities.

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony in Faza, Lamu Coumty Government Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnasir Issa who was representing Governor Issa Timamy EGH, OGW said working with partners is strategy of the County to attract support and augment the county’s investment in building health systems in the Lamu County.

“This ground breaking ceremony for the oxygen plant in Faza today supports Governor Timamy’s pledge of delivering quality healthcare services at the residents doorstep and cuts on travels to seek for critical medical services from other referral hospitals” stated the Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff further noted that Governor Timamy’s administration has been keen on hiring more health workers, improving health infrastructure and equipping health facilities across the county to a state that can serve the community better.

Medical Services Chief Officer Dr. Victor Tole said this is a step towards strengthening the county’s healthcare system to enable Lamu residents to lead prosperous fulfilling lives. He further added that the plant will go a long way in addressing most of the current challenges in hauling oxygen all the way from Mombasa.

In attendance was Amref Health Africa in Kenya rep. Dr. George Githuka, Dr Tom Menge from the Ministry of Health, Sub county Medical officer Dr. Athman, Faza hospital board chair Mr. Athman, Sub-county Administrator Mr. Lali Shelali, Ward Administrator Hon. Abbas Nagi among others.
