Lamu County is among the six counties that are set to benefit from Sh. 3.5 billion grant from the European Union to support the Blue Economy projects.

The grant will be coordinated by the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP), the regional economic bloc representing  and will include Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, and Taita Taveta counties respectively.
