Music & Dance Lights Up Bursaries Disbursement Ceremony In Mokowe

After dancing their way through to the finals of national dancing competitions, the 19 dancers from Bahati Njema Primary School in Mkunumbi Ward, had an opportunity to grace the colourful Lamu West bursary disbursement luncheon at Mokowe Headquarters on Friday.

Lamu Governor H.E Issa Timamy EGH, OGW among other distinguished guests were entertained with edgy contemporary choreography from the teens, who finished as second runners up in the just concluded coast region music festivals, winning a place to represent coast region at the national finals in Nyeri.

The pupils’ who were sponsored by County Government of Lamu to take part in the regional competition, expressed their optimism in pushing the boundaries through choreography as a tool to educate the masses on the importance of wildlife conservation through their song ‘Wanyama Pori Hazina’

Governor Timamy who was thrilled by the entertainment, committed to support the pupils’ towards ensuring they take part in the national competition and further committed to keep his promise of nurturing talents among students and the youths since it has been proven the youth can earn their living through their talents and develop themselves financially and socially.

During the luncheon, County Government of Lamu disbursed a total of Sh. 11.361 million to 3,246 students from Lamu West Sub-County.
