Lamu County Government in partnership with World Wide Fund Kenya (WWF) and National Drought and Management Authority (NDMA) has rolled out a food distribution exercise in Lamu East to mitigate the effects of the prolonged drought in many parts of the county.

Speaking during the flagging off exercise at the County Commissioner’s office in Mokowe, Lamu Deputy Governor H.E Raphael Munyua said that the relief food will benefit over 700 households in 14 villages that are hunger stricken.

He further noted that Governor Issa Timamy administration will continue working closely with the national government and other development partners in order to reach out to the starving residents across the county.

In attendance was WWF Dr. Asma Awadi, and NDMA Representatives.
