A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO IMPROVE SERVICES IS FOUND AT THE MPEKETONI HOSPITAL.

Deputy Governor Rafael Munyua together with the Minister of Health, Dr. Mbarak Mohamed in cooperation with health sector stakeholders together with leaders of Lamu West, have reached an agreement on how to solve problems that have been disrupting the delivery of services at Mpeketoni Hospital.

The Deputy Governor thanked all those involved in resolving the problems of the hospital and promised that they will be holding sessions every two weeks to assess the functioning of the hospital with an aim of ensuring the citizens receive better services.

“Some of the key points we agreed on is that hospital administrators will set aside specific appointment hours to ensure nurses do not bother patients who have to wait long periods without access to hospital services,” said the Deputy Governor.

He also assured citizens that under Governor Timamy’s leadership, the government has solved the problem of drug shortage after purchasing the medicines stock which will be used for about two months to come.

The Minister of Health Dr. Mbarak emphasized the importance of good relationship between the community and the hospital stressing that their unity will bring development in Lamu. The minister also pointed out that the laboratories of Mpeketoni hospital are providing services for all tests and patients will no longer need to go to private laboratories for those basic services.

Director of Medical Services Dr. Abubakar Baasba assured that improvement measures in the health sector are being maintained for the benefit of the whole community.

Those who attended include the general administrators of Mpeketoni hospital, administrators of elected leaders and good citizens.
