Lamu County Governor H.E. Issa Timamy E.G.H, O.G.W has this morning made an impromptu visit at the Faza OPD with an aim of checking the functionality of Government structures and equipment towards quality service delivery to residents.
Governor Timamy said he will be conducting similar impromptu visits to different facilities with an aim of ensuring our hospitals offer topnotch healthcare to residents, envisages a functional health system that meets the needs of every person, well equipped health facilities as well as a well trained and motivated workforce.
The Governor was accompanied by the County Secretary Amb. Ali Abbas and Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnasir M. Issa among other officers.

County Government of Lamu to tap into Blue Economy opportunities by setting up a multibillion fish port in Mokowe, Lamu. According to Lamu Governor and the Council of Governors’ Blue Economy Committee Chair H.E. Issa Timamy E.G.H, the fish port will promote exports and increase county revenue to an annual of estimate of 50 billion shillings.
The facility which will be set up in Mokowe, will lead to creation of over 20,000 jobs, and also stimulate growth in other related sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, transport, trade and commerce.
Speaking during a thanks giving ceremony in Mpeketoni on Sunday, Pesident William Ruto lauded Governor Timamy’s commitment towards unlocking Lamu’s economic potential adding that he has the full backing of National Government.
15 smallholder farmer groups from Lamu have received 587 local and alpine goats for boosted food and nutrition security.
The groups from Bahari and Hindi ward County farmers recieved the goats from the County Government of Lamu in partnership with the World Bank-funded Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Program (KCSAP)
Speaking while handing over the goats, Agriculture C.E.C.M Hon. James Gichu said the county wide project is geared towards increasing household and also promoting dairy farming in Lamu.
The beneficiary groups were trained on various value chains and were given the option to choose what they thought would best serve their needs.
“Goats are the ideal animal for arid and semi-arid regions, being relatively easy to keep, feed, and survive even in harsh conditions. I would also want put on notice farmers who have been selling cows and goats from the funded project and those that will be caught risk having their group blacklisted from getting further grants” Hon. Gichu stated.

In attendance were Project Coordinator Steven Mbuvi, Acting Director for Agriculture James Njoroge, C.D.D.C members among other officers from the Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperative Department.

Lamu Governor H.E Issa Timamy has said that an establishment of a fish port in Lamu would create over 20,000 jobs and that would in turn make Lamu a regional economic hub.
Speaking while hosting President William Ruto in Mpeketoni during a thanksgiving ceremony that was held at Muungano grounds, the A.N.C Party leader said Lamu has an enormous untapped opportunity in the blue economy.
According to the A.N.C Party leader, Lamu County Government will set up 2,000 acres to facilitate the setting up of the zone that will create thousands of direct jobs to the people of Lamu.
Governor Timamy was speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Mpeketoni when he hosted President William Rito and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Deputy Governor Rafael Munyua together with the Minister of Health, Dr. Mbarak Mohamed in cooperation with health sector stakeholders together with leaders of Lamu West, have reached an agreement on how to solve problems that have been disrupting the delivery of services at Mpeketoni Hospital.
The Deputy Governor thanked all those involved in resolving the problems of the hospital and promised that they will be holding sessions every two weeks to assess the functioning of the hospital with an aim of ensuring the citizens receive better services.
“Some of the key points we agreed on is that hospital administrators will set aside specific appointment hours to ensure nurses do not bother patients who have to wait long periods without access to hospital services,” said the Deputy Governor.
He also assured citizens that under Governor Timamy’s leadership, the government has solved the problem of drug shortage after purchasing the medicines stock which will be used for about two months to come.
The Minister of Health Dr. Mbarak emphasized the importance of good relationship between the community and the hospital stressing that their unity will bring development in Lamu. The minister also pointed out that the laboratories of Mpeketoni hospital are providing services for all tests and patients will no longer need to go to private laboratories for those basic services.
Director of Medical Services Dr. Abubakar Baasba assured that improvement measures in the health sector are being maintained for the benefit of the whole community.

Lamu Governor and the Council of Governors’ Blue Economy Committee Chairman H.E. Issa Timamy has committed to ensure Kenya Marine Fisheries Socio-Economic Project aims at promoting investment in the blue economy sector at the coast.
Speaking at Liwatoni in Mvita constituency on Friday, Governor Timamy thanked President Ruto for creating a Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Ministry adding that it was an affirmation that he is commited in uplifting the blue economy sector.
“Lamu produces over half of the fish that’s consumed in Kenya yet we have limited resources. I would want to request the national government to consider setting up a fish port in Lamu which will in turn help us to maximize our potential” Stated Governor Timamy.
The A.N.C Party leader was speaking in Mombasa when President Ruto presided over the launch of the Kenya Marine Fisheries and Socio-economic Development (KEMFSED) community project grants to enhance livelihoods at the Coastal Region.
Governor Timamy is expected to host the President in Mpeketoni Lamu this Sunday.

The State Department for Correctional Services Principal Secretary Ms. Mary Muthoni Muriuki has today paid a courtesy call to Lamu Governor H.E. Issa Timamy E.G.H, O.G.W to discuss areas of possible collaboration.
