GOVERNOR TIMAMY PRESIDES OVER PRIZE GIVING DAY AT MPEKETONI BOYS SECONDARY SCHOOL
Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has today presided over Mpeketoni Boys High School prize giving day to 2023 KCSE outstanding students.
Awards were given to 56 students who recorded a mean grade of B- and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) as well as teachers with leading subjects in KCSE 2023 and co-curricular activities.
During the annual event, outstanding teachers and students received a wide range of gifts including smart phones, suitcases, cash prizes, trophies among other goodies.Mpeketoni Boys High School ranked the best school in the county (2023 KCSE), registering a mean-score of 6.0.
Towards supporting the school, the Governor who was accompanied by his Deputy Raphael Munyua also commited to look for funds so as to complete the stalled library in the school. He further noted that his administration would sponsor teachers and students for a bench marking exercise to schools that have proven to produce consistent quality grades.
The DG congratulated the students who were feted and urged the school administration to strive towards increasing the university transition rate from the current 9% and attain the county’s target transition of 70%
Mpeketoni Boys Principal Mr. Juma Mathias Kalume thanked Governor Timamy for his commitment in promoting education through supporting the school infrastructure and awarding of scholarship which benefits 45% of the students.

Ali Abbas, Chief of Staff Mr. Abdulnasir Issa, Bursary & Scholarship Board Chair Mr. Athman Badi, Lamu West MP Representative Mr. Jeremiah, TSC County Director Rukia, BoM/PTA members, Education Sub-County Director Md. Rukia, area Chief Mr. Githinji, parents/guardians.
